Which organelle is responsible for lipid synthesis in eukaryotic cells?

The endoplasmic reticulum (ER) is a complex organelle found in eukaryotic cells that plays a variety of important roles in the cell. One of the main functions of the ER is the synthesis of lipids, including phospholipids, cholesterol, and triglycerides. In addition to lipid synthesis, the ER plays many other roles in the cell, including protein folding and transport, calcium storage and release, and cell signalling.
