Detailed Solution

Poona Pact resolved the issue of separate electorates for Dalits between Gandhi and Ambedkar in 1932.
Dalits, considered 'untouchable,' were a class of social deprivation that was not assimilated into the active political scenario. B.R. Ambedkar, through the Depressed Classes Association, put forward the demand for a separate electorate for depressed classes in elections for their due representation. However, Gandhiji was not in favour of a separate electorate for depressed classes and went on the fast unto death after the British accepted Ambedkar's demand. Ambedkar accepted Gandhiji's demand for no separate electorate, culminating in the Poona pact of 1932. It provided reserved seats for depressed classes.
