Detailed Solution

Untouchability was described as a "slur and a blot" on India's fair name. Groups of people positioned at the bottom of the caste system were known as "untouchables." They were known as impure people, thus the name. They could only perform menial tasks like removing bodies and cleaning toilets and did not have the same rights as the upper castes. The Constitution gave the most underprivileged and poor Indians special rights. Untouchability was no longer recognized. Temples were opened to everyone, even the untouchables. The Constituent Assembly proposed a specific percentage of positions in government and seats in legislatures to be reserved for people from the lowest castes.
