The tributaries of this river are Barakar, Konar, Jamunia, Nunia and Sali. This river joins the Hugli river. This river is called the river of sorrows as it used to flood many areas situated on its banks, like Hooghly, Howrah, Bardhaman and Medinipur. The flood used to come every year.
