The Narmada and the Tapi rivers flow through the rift valley in India. A rift valley is formed on a divergent plate boundary by the action of a faulty rift. Narmada river originates on the west side of the Amarkantak plateau and flows in a rift valley between the Satpura ranges in the South and the Vindhya range in the North. Tapi river is also a westward flowing river, and It originates from Multai in Madhya Pradesh.
