Detailed Solution

Kangra School of Painting developed with the emergence of regionalised miniature paintings in the Himalayan region. Watercolours were mainly used to create miniatures on fabric or paper. The Mughal Emperors were patrons of this school of art. Because of the Mughal Empire's demise, miniature painting artists relocated to regional hubs where they developed the form of regional art. The regional courts of the Rajputs and Deccans were greatly inspired by this technique. The emergence of miniature art paintings was also seen in the Himalayan foothills surrounding the modern state of Himachal Pradesh. This area developed a vivid and dramatic style of miniature painting known as Basohli until the late 17th century.
