Topics Removed from the JEE Main Physics Syllabus

If you’re planning for JEE Main 2026, the cleanest way to know what’s out is to look at the official JEE Main Syllabus PDF. That PDF shows what remains; widely reported “deleted topics” are those that no longer appear there. Below is a verified, unitwise list of Physics topics removed, consolidated from the NTA JEE Mains syllabus PDF and high-quality. Always treat the NTA PDF as the final word.

Communication Systems — the entire chapter is not part of JEE Main Physics.

JEE Mains Physics Class 11: Deleted Topics

Physics & Measurement: “Physics, technology and society”; “accuracy and precision of measuring instruments.”
Gravitation: “Geostationary satellites.” (General satellite motion and orbital velocity remain in the PDF.
Properties of Solids & Liquids: “Reynolds number,” “Newton’s law of cooling.”
Thermodynamics: “Carnot engine and its efficiency.”
Oscillations & Waves: “Free, forced and damped oscillations,” “resonance (mechanical),” “Doppler effect in sound.” (Core SHM, wave motion, standing waves & beats remain.)
Crosscheck: The official PDF lists what’s kept (e.g., SHM, beats, wave basics). Anything not listed there—but present in older versions—is treated as removed.

JEE Mains Physics Removed Topics from Class 12

Current Electricity: “Resistances of different materials,” “colour code for resistors,” and “Potentiometer — principle & applications.” (Kirchhoff’s laws, Wheatstone bridge & metre bridge remain.)
Magnetic Effects of Current & Magnetism: “Cyclotron,” “magnetic elements,” “magnetic susceptibility & permeability,” “hysteresis,” “electromagnets vs permanent magnets.” (Core Biot–Savart, Ampere’s law, moving coil galvanometer remain.)
Electromagnetic Induction & AC: “Quality factor.” (EMI basics, LCR series, resonance & AC generator remain.)
Optics: “Resolving power of microscopes & telescopes.” (Ray optics with mirrors, thin lens formula, lens maker’s formula, prism; and waveoptics topics like YDSE & singleslit diffraction remain.)
Dual Nature of Matter & Radiation: “Davisson–Germer experiment.” (Photoelectric effect & de Broglie remain.) ([Careers360 Engineering][3])
Atoms & Nuclei: “Isotopes, isobars, isotones,” “radioactivity (α, β, γ) & decay law.” (Rutherford–Bohr, hydrogen spectrum, mass defect, binding energy, fission & fusion remain.)
Electronic Devices: “Junction transistor, transistor action/characteristics,” “transistor as amplifier (CE) & oscillator,” “transistor as switch.” (Semiconductors, diodes, LED, photodiode, solar cell, Zener; and logic gates (AND/OR/NOT/NAND/NOR) remain.)
Experimental Skills: Potentiometer experiments (EMF comparison, internal resistance), transistor/IC characteristic curves & related multimeter checks, etc., are not in the current list of required experiments. (Metrebridge resistivity, viscosity, Young’s modulus, surface tension, speed of sound, etc., are still listed.)
