Detailed Solution

White towns were for the whites.
The two sorts of towns that existed under the British administration were Black Town and White Town. Europeans like the British and Portuguese resided in White Town, while workers, labourers, carpenters, and other residents of the black community lived in Black Town. Weavers and merchants were drawn to the coast north of Fort St. George after the Company built its factory there in Madras in 1639, settling in what became known as "Black Town." These people came from many other south Indian cities. There is a thriving business district of contemporary Chennai to the north of Fort St. George in George town. The town was also referred to as "Channapatna" by the local settlement and was known as the "black town" since weavers and dyers were among the natives.
