Detailed Solution

Masulipatam and Hoogly, the two Indian ports, had trade links with Southeast Asia. Before colonialism, trading with India took place over the sea. The principal port on India's western coast, Surat, served as a conduit between the Persian Gulf and the Red Sea. The principal ports on the eastern coast were Hoogly in Bengal and Masulipatnam on the Coromandel coast. They had commercial ties to ports in Southeast Asia.
