Which type of cells undergo mitosis for regeneration and repair purposes?

Mitosis is a type of cell division that occurs in somatic cells, which are non-reproductive cells in the body of an organism. Examples of somatic cells include epithelial cells, liver cells, blood cells, and skin cells. These cells are diploid in nature, which means they contain two sets of chromosomes. Mitosis helps in the regeneration and repair of damaged tissues in the body. Hence, somatic cells undergo mitosis for regeneration and repair purposes. 

In contrast, meiosis is the type of cell division that occurs in germ cells, which are responsible for the formation of eggs and sperm. Germ cells are found in the gonads of animals (ovaries and testes) and the reproductive organs of plants (ovules and anthers).
