Which type of force causes the change in the position of a body?

According to the first law of motion, an object remains at rest or continues to move at a certain speed until and unless an external force is applied to that object.

Balanced forces are forces that are equal in magnitude and opposite in direction. When the forces acting on an object is balanced, they cancel out one another. Unbalanced forces act in the same direction and they do not cancel out each other. Such forces are responsible to make changes in the position of an object.

Hence, the unbalanced external force causes a change in the state of rest or motion.
