Detailed Solution

Nyctinastic movements, also known as sleep movements, are induced by the combined stimuli of light and temperature. These movements are observed in certain plants belonging to the families Leguminosae and Oxialidaceae.

The vegetative and floral leaves of these plants exhibit different positions during the day and night. They remain open during the day and close down by the evening, which is a response to changes in both light and temperature. This type of movement is called sleep movement because the plants appear to "sleep" during the night.

In contrast, thermonastic movements are induced by changes in temperature alone, while haptonastic and photonastic movements are induced by touch and light, respectively.
