Which type of pollution is likely to affect the Taj Mahal in Agra to a greater extent?

The Taj Mahal in Agra is affected to a greater extent by air pollution. The air pollutants like sulphur dioxide and oxides of nitrogen react with water and oxygen in the atmosphere to form sulphuric acid and nitric acid. These come down on earth as precipitation known as acid rain. Acid rain reacts with calcium carbonate (marble) and tarnishes its white colour into yellow.
