Britain was the first country to undergo the industrial revolution. From Britain, it gradually spread to other European countries such as France, Germany and Belgium. Though the revolution started in the 1730s, the number of factories multiplied only by the end of the 18th century. Factories, mainly cotton, that bloomed in Britain during the time marked the new era of industrialisation. The main reason behind the success of cotton factories was the variety of inventions that increased their efficacy and enabled every worker to produce more. Later, both the iron and cotton industries flourished at a faster rate.
