The third Satyagraha of Gandhi in India was the Kheda Satyagraha.
The Kheda Satyagraha was organised in the Kheda district of Gujarat. It was held to oppose the crop yielding tax imposed by Britishers, which farmers of Kheda paid. Britishers had ruled that those who cultivated crops on their farms would have to pay tax. But if the crop yield equals one-fourth of the land or less, they will not have to pay tax. However, the British did not apply this rule in Kheda. As a result, the peasants of Kheda, already affected by plague and crop failure, could not pay the land revenue. Gandhiji and the farmers of Kheda then protested, demanding the relaxation of revenue collection.
