Detailed Solution

South-West monsoon winds prevail in India during the rainy season. In the past, 'monsoons' was believed to be massive sea breeze caused by high land temperatures than ocean temperatures. The trade winds blow continuously from East to West throughout the large portion of the Equatorial Region. Their origin is the hot equatorial region via which cold air travels from north to south. The monsoon winds are South-East trade winds that begin in the Southern Hemisphere and change to South-West trade winds as the equator passes through them. By blowing across the warm oceans of the Indian subcontinent, they cause precipitation.
