Given:
The plane started late by 30 minutes to reach the destination, 1500 km away, in time, the pilot increased the speed by 100 km/hr.
Total distance = 1500 km
Assume the original speed of the plane to be x km/h.
Then the increased speed of the plane will be (x+100) km/h.
Time taken t 1   by the plane to cover a distance 1500 km   with a speed of x km/h  , Time  =  Distance   Speed  ⇒ t 1 = 1500 x   Time taken  t 2  by the plane to cover a distance of 1500 km with a speed of (x+100) km/h.   Time  =  Distance   Speed  ⇒ t 2 = 1500 x+100   Therefore, according to the given conditions
⇒ 1500 x − 1500 x+100 = 30 60  
⇒ 1500 x − 1500 x+100 = 1 2 ⇒ 1500x+150000−1500x x(x+100) = 1 2 ⇒ 300000 x 2 +100x =1 ⇒ x 2 +100x−300000 =0  
⇒ x 2 +600x−500x−300000=0 ⇒x(x+600)−500(x+600)=0 ⇒(x+600)(x−500)=0  
Either x+600=0   or x−500=0  
Therefore, the possible values of x are, x=−600   or x=500  .
Since x represents speed, hence it cannot be negative,
Therefore, the original speed of the plane is 500 km/h.
Hence, the correct option is 1.
