Detailed Solution

Concept: The other side of the glass slab to see if the pins are aligned in a straight line, we see the refracted beam. We won't be able to match the light's route between two pins that are near to one another.
A flat piece of glass is resting on a level surface. As illustrated in the above figures, a student is doing an experiment on the refraction of light through a glass slab by positioning the pins in various positions in four distinct ways. In order to achieve the best results, we are required to determine the proper pin placement.
The student must first properly view the light beams after refraction from the other side of the glass slab in order to achieve the best results. We can observe that the pins are positioned closely together in the first and fourth images. It would be hard to match the light travelling between the pins if they were too close together, as seen from the opposite side of the slab. Therefore, the first and fourth photographs must be rejected.
In order to observe the changed light direction after emerging from the opposite side of the slab, the angle of incidence and distance of the point of incidence from the centre slab must be optimal. However, there aren't any problems in image number three. It is error-free throughout. The distance of the point of incidence from the centre slab, the angle of incidence, and the distance between the pins are all excellent for viewing the changed light direction. Therefore, image number three represents the proper setup.
Hence, the correct option is 3.
