Main leaders of HSRA are Bhagat Singh, Jatin Das, and Ajoy Ghosh. Many nationalists believed that the struggle against the British could not be won if they still followed the path of Non-violence. Therefore under the leadership of some leaders like Bhagat Singh, Jatin Das, and Ajoy Ghosh, the Hindustan Socialist Republican Army (HSRA) was founded at a meeting on Ferozeshah Kotla ground in Delhi in 1928. HSRA targeted some symbols of British power in various parts of India. They used various violent methods against them. For example, Bhagat Singh and Batukeswar Dutta threw a bomb at the legislative assembly in April 1929. They also tried to blow up the train in which Lord Irwin was travelling, amidst which Bhagat Singh was caught and executed at 23.
