Dalits can avail reservations.
This is because they have been discriminated against since centuries.They were not given equal opportunities. The Dalit people were considered untouchables. It is not clear when this practice became part of the Indian subcontinent. According to Ambedkar, impunity entered Indian culture in about 400 AD as a result of the struggle for supremacy between Buddhism and Brahmanism (an ancient name for Brahmanical Hinduism). Some Hindu monks were downgraded because they were friends with untouchables. During Bhakti, another exiled Brahmin, Eknath, fought for the rights of these people. Reservation is mainly offered to the four groups: scheduled categories, organised nations, other back classes, and Dalits.
