Detailed Solution

Mazzini, Cavour and Garibaldi  contributed to the Unification of Italy.
1)      Giuseppe Mazzini, an Italian revolutionary, was born in Genoa. He joined the Carbonari, a conspiracy of the hidden, in 1807. He subsequently established Young Italy to advance Italy's unification.
2)      The leader in uniting the Italian regions was Chief Minister Cavour. Sardinia-Piedmont defeated the Austrian armies in 1859 because of his masterminded political alliance with France.
3)      Giuseppe Garibaldi led a large contingent of armed volunteers. They marched into South Italy and the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies in 1860 and successfully rallied the local peasants to help them overthrow the Spanish authorities.
