Giuseppe Mazzini was the founder of underground societies namely, Young Italy in Marseilles and also Young Italy in Berne, Mazzini was against monarchical rule and always stood for freedom and liberty. This was the reason he founded Young Italy in Marseilles and in Berne, to involve the youth in revolutionary activities. He also set up the model of secret societies in other countries like Germany, France and Poland besides the part of Italy. With the vision of a single republic unified Italy, he started a programme “Unitary Italian Republic” and also became a member of the Carbonari secret society.
