Bhagat Singh is revered as a heroic figure of India's campaign for independence from colonial domination. He used the phrase "Inquilab Zindabad" when he was still a youngster, and it subsequently became the anthem for the Indian independence struggle. Bhagat Singh was interested in revolutionary activities and joined the Hindustan Republican Association (HRA). He participated in many attempts to bomb the Delhi Central Legislative Assembly and other acts of vandalism against British rule. In 1929, he and two other militants were found guilty of killing British police officer John Saunders. However, at 23, the young leader was hanged on March 23, 1931, in the Lahore prison.
