The Entente Powers, also known as the Allies of World War I, was a group of nations that fought alongside the Central Powers during the First World War (1914–1918). They were led by France, the United Kingdom, Russia, Italy, Japan, and the United States. Meanwhile, the Central Powers, which included Germany, Austria-Hungary, Bulgaria, and the Ottoman Empire, opposed them. Between 1914 and 1918, more than 30 countries declared war on one another. Even though the Central Powers were pitted against the Allies, they were defeated by the Allies in the First World War.
