He was a minor American composer-arranger and sheet music publisher. He was born on 16 February 1858 in West Virginia in the United States. He had done many notable works in music and also in painting. He started publishing in 1894 in march (a musical genre is a piece of music with Armstrong's regular rhythm). He was the first music publisher to use five-colour lithography for his music sheet. He used to sell music sheets by uniquely colouring their front cover to catch the buyers.
