Detailed Solution

Kalangs was a community of skilled forest cutters and shifting cultivators of  Java.
The Kalangs of Java used shifting cultivation. They harvested teak and were also skilled forest cutters. Without their expertise, it was difficult for the king of Java to build their palaces. The 6000 Kalang families were so precious to the king that they were divided evenly between the two kingdoms when the Mataram kingdom of Java split in 1755. Thus, the Kalangs were regarded as a skilled forest cutter community. When the Dutch gained control over the forests, they tried to make Kalangs work under them. The Kalangs were revoked by attacking the Dutch fort at Joana.
