Detailed Solution

Lord Irwin announced a vague ‘Dominion Status’offer  for India in 1929.
The Simon Commission arrived in India in 1929 to look into the constitutional system in India and suggest improvements. The Simon Commission faced backlash from the Indian political leaders as it was a British commission, and no Indian was a member of it. On its arrival, Simon Commission was greeted with the slogan “Go Back, Simon”. Indians protested against it, including Congress and the Muslim League. So, the then viceroy of India, Lord Irwin, presented a vague offer of ‘Dominion Status’ and round table conferences to discuss the future discourse. But it did not satisfy Congress.
