Detailed Solution

East India Company appointed the Gomasthas to supervise weavers in India. Gomasthas were trade or revenue agents preferred by the British to oversee weavers and collect supplies from them. They access the consistency of the output weavers were producing. British cotton production had not increased before the 1760s, and European demand for fine Indian textiles was high. The British employed Gomasthas to resolve these issues without any broker. Gomasthas takes responsibility for collecting the product to be supplied and evaluating the fabric's quality.
