The President of India appoints the Prime Minister of India. According to Article 75, the President shall appoint the Prime Minister and, on the recommendation of the Prime Minister, the other Ministers. The Prime Minister may be chosen from the Lok Sabha or Rajya Sabha members. Within six months following his appointment, if he is not a member of either House of Parliament, he must be elected to that House.
