Detailed Solution

Baiga is a tribal community. One of the oldest tribal groups of Madhya Pradesh. Baigas are forest dwellers as they like to live close to nature. It is believed that the word 'Baiga' was derived from the word vaidya, which means healer. The Baigas are considered a Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Group (PVTG) in the Indian Constitution and depend on agriculture, forestry and subsistence fishing. The tribe has a population of only 150,000 in the forests of Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. However, they had good knowledge of the medicinal properties of flora and fauna.
