Detailed Solution

The Santhals are the prominent pastoralist groups of Jharkhand.  In terms of numbers, the Santhals are the largest tribe in the Indian state of Jharkhand. They are also present in the states of Assam, Tripura, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, and West Bengal. They converse in Santali, the Munda language that is most extensively used. The British government granted numerous sizable European trading companies the exclusive right to trade in specific regions' forest products. The Santhals were hired to work on tea plantations because of this. However, both their pay and working conditions were appalling. They found it difficult to return to the communities where they had lived before being recruited.
