Detailed Solution

Qutbuddin Aibak was succeeded as ruler of Delhi by Iltutmish. Qutb-ud-din Aibak was replaced by Iltutmish (1206–11), who was then succeeded by Razia (1236–40) and Balban (1265-85). The Qutub Minar was started by Qutb-ud-din Aibak, but Iltutmish finished it. Qutb-ud-din Aibak, who was performing as Chaugan, perished after falling from his horse. He is credited for constructing the Hauz-i-Shamsi in Delhi next to Mehrauli. Additionally, he finished the Qutub Minar project that his predecessor had begun. He also brought the Iqta system, a form of tax farming, to the Delhi Sultanate. An officer received a grant of revenue from a territory instead of pay under the Iqta system. The Iqta system, however, was not inherited. The Iqta system connected the farthest part of the Sultanate to the central government.
