Nana Saheb declared himself as the Mughal Emperor Bahadur Shah Zafar’s governor and recruited armed forces to drive the British army out of Kanpur during the Revolt of 1857. Other regions of the nation were gradually affected by the uprising in 1857. Numerous regiments mutinied and marched to key locations like Delhi, Kanpur, and Lucknow to join other forces. The residents of the cities and villages also rose in revolt, supporting the chief, zamindar, and other regional authorities. It provided the zamindars, chiefs, and other local authorities with an opportunity to establish their dominance.
