Detailed Solution

Portuguese missionaries brought the printing press to India.
In the middle of the sixteenth century, Portuguese missionaries brought the printing press to Goa, India, for the first time. About 50 books in the Kanara and Konkani languages had been printed by 1674. The first Tamil book was produced in Cochin in 1579 by Catholic priests, while the first Malayalam book was printed there in 1713. In addition, 32 Tamil manuscripts, many of which were translations of earlier works, had been printed by Dutch Protestant missionaries by 1710.
