Detailed Solution

Akbar built Humayun's tomb. During Akbar's rule, there were a number of significant architectural innovations. The tombs of Akbar's Central Asian ancestor, Timur, served as a source of inspiration for his architects. First seen in Humayun's tomb, the towering central dome and the tall doorway (pishtaq) later developed into significant features of Mughal architecture. The Humayun's tomb was constructed according to the "eight paradises" or hasht bihisht tradition, with a central hall flanked by eight rooms in the middle of a sizable formal chahar bagh. Red sandstone was used to build the structure, and white marble was used for the edges.
