Who came up with the term "cell"?

In 1665, Robert Hooke discovered and called the cell. He examined cork slices using a basic magnifying instrument. He saw compartment-like structures in his magnifying equipment, akin to small chambers or cells at the monastery where he formerly lived. As a result, the name "cell" was coined.
