Both the state and union governments can make laws relating to the subjects mentioned in the Concurrent List. The Concurrent List contains the subjects of common concern to the centre and state governments. Both union and state governments can make laws on these subjects. However, if there is a conflict between the central and state laws, the central law would prevail over any issue in the Concurrent List. This List includes subjects like criminal and civil procedure, marriage and divorce, education, economic planning, trade unions, etc. The Concurrent List has 47 subjects mentioned in the Seventh Schedule of the Constitution of India.
