Detailed Solution

The central government can make laws relating to the subjects mentioned in the Union List.
Federalism in India is practised through a clear division of powers among the various levels of the government. Although there are three levels of government presently, the Constitution restricts the jurisdictions of only the two levels of the government, i.e. Central Government and State Governments. Union List, State List and Concurrent List contain the subjects on which laws are to be made by these two levels of government. The Union list includes subjects of national importance, such as national security, currency, etc.; hence, only the Central government can make laws regarding the subjects in this list.
