Detailed Solution

The correct answer is (d) Rabindranath Tagore

India’s National Anthem “Jana Gana Mana” was composed by Rabindranath Tagore in 1911. It is the first stanza of his Bengali hymn “Bharoto Bhagyo Bidhata.” The song was first sung on 27 December 1911 at the Calcutta (Kolkata) session of the Indian National Congress. Later, the Constituent Assembly of India adopted it as the National Anthem on 24 January 1950. The officially prescribed duration for a full, stand-alone rendering is about 52 seconds.

(a) Mahatma Gandhi: A key leader of India’s freedom struggle, but not the composer of the National Anthem.

(b) Dr Iqbal (Muhammad Iqbal): Wrote the famous patriotic song “Sāre Jahān Se Achchā” (Tarāna-e-Hind), not the National Anthem.

(c) Bhagat Singh: A revolutionary freedom fighter, not associated with composing the Anthem.
