Detailed Solution

Vasco Da Gama discovered the sea route to India in 1498.
Vasco da Gama arrived on the western sea coast of India at Calicut on May 20, 1498, two years after setting sail from Lisbon, Portugal. It was the first time a European arrived in India by sea. As a result, Vasco da Gama is credited with discovering the sea passage to India. His expedition made multiple stops in Africa before reaching the trading port of Calicut, sailing down the western coast of Africa, and rounding the Cape of Good Hope. During that time, India was well-known for its spices and other luxuries.
