Detailed Solution

Rabindranath Tagore established Shantiniketan. Tagore disliked going to school as a child. It was unpleasant and suffocating to him. He thought of the school as a jail since he could never do what he wanted. Tagore's opinions about education were affected by his time at school in Calcutta. When he grew older, he wished to establish a school where kids could be happy, free, and creative. Tagore believed he had to bring about change to escape the restrictive discipline of the British-instituted educational system. He established his school in a remote area a few kilometres from Calcutta. He envisioned it as an 'abode of peace' or Shantiniketan, where kids could develop their creativity in peace.
