Detailed Solution

Veerasalingum Pantulu formed an association in the Madras Presidency for widow remarriage.
The widow remarriage trend began to spread across the nation by the second half of the nineteenth century. Veerasalingam Pantulu founded an organisation advocating widow remarriage in Telugu-speaking areas of the Madras Presidency. Young reformers and thinkers in Bombay committed to embracing the same cause simultaneously. Widow remarriage was supported by Swami Dayanand Saraswati, who founded the reform organisation Arya Samaj in the north. Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar, like Raja Rammohan, also campaigned for widow remarriage. Hence, British officials adopted legislation allowing widow remarriage in 1856 on his recommendation.
