Detailed Solution

Dr B.R. Ambedkar was a Dalit leader who organized the Dalits in the Depressed Classes Association. The Dalits were the depressed class that remained aloof for an extended period. They were regarded as untouchables. Congress also ignored them for fear of losing support from Satnamis, who were high-class Hindus. The Dalit leaders believed that social emancipation was possible only after political empowerment. So they began to organize themselves into associations. It was the Depressed Classes Association that demanded a separate electorate for the Dalits at the second round table conference.
