There was a massive contribution from the business class to the Civil Disobedience Movement because, from the First World War, the Indian Industries were established successfully. Indian merchants were trading well as they got huge contacts during this war, but the Britishers imposed many laws which bound Indian traders. Consequently, the trade of Indian merchants got affected. Hence when Mahatma Gandhi launched the Civil Disobedience Movement, it was widely supported by Indian industrialists and merchants to eradicate the laws that restricted business. However, the large-scale participation of women in protests was another feature of this campaign. They participated in marches, manufactured salt and picketed liquor shops and foreign goods
