Duke Metternich headed the Congress of Vienna.
In 1815, delegates of the European powers - Britain, Russia, Prussia, and Austria, who had by and large crushed Napoleon, met at Vienna to draw up a settlement for Europe. The Congress was facilitated by the Austrian Chancellor, Duke Metternich. The representatives drew up the Treaty of Vienna of 1815 with the object of fixing a large portion of the progressions that had come to fruition in Europe during the Napoleonic conflicts. The Bourbon line, ousted during the French Revolution, was reestablished to power, and France lost the regions it had attacked under Napoleon. In addition, a progression of states was defined up inside the limits of France to forestall French extension later on.
