Detailed Solution

Louis Philippe headed the constitutional monarchy installed by liberals revolutionaries in 1830. The Duke of Orleans's oldest son was Louis-Philippe. After the Revolution of 1830 and Charles X's resignation, he joined the liberal revolutionaries. Adolphe Thiers crowned him the "Citizen King", and the legislature nominated him to rule. He maintained his position of authority during his monarchical reign by taking a middle ground between right-wing monarchists and socialists, and other republicans. But he was forced to deploy harsh tactics due to several uprisings and assassination attempts. By working with the British with the motive to compel the Dutch to acknowledge Belgian independence, he improved France's standing in Europe. During the February Revolution of 1848, he surrendered due to the growing middle-class resistance to his arbitrary rule and failure to win over the rising industrial classes.
