Detailed Solution

Nadir Shah invaded Delhi in 1739. The early years of the 18th century were marked by many changes as they witnessed the sudden decline of the Mughal Empire and the invasions of foreign rulers. In 1739,  the city of Delhi was invaded by the ruler of Iran, Nadir Shah, who sacked and plundered it. He took away immense wealth which was followed by a series of plundering raids by the Afghan ruler Ahmed Shah Abdali as well. Nadir Shah was also notorious for taking away the Peacock Throne and rumbling the new city called Shahjahanabad.
