A well-known pioneer of mass production was Henry Ford, the car maker. He adjusted the merge line of the Chicago slaughterhouse (where animals were slaughtered). Butchers separated them as they descended by conveyor belt at Detroit's new car station. He realised that the ‘line of approach’ approach would allow for a faster and cheaper route to car manufacturing. The assembly line forced workers to repeat one operation mechanically and continuously. Henry Ford's vehicles exited the assembly line within three minutes, much faster than those found earlier.
