Detailed Solution

The 18th-century Indian painter Raja Ravi Varma is commonly referred to as "The Father of Modern Indian Art". He became well-known for his depictions of themes from the Mahabharata and the Ramayana. Among all artists in Indian art history, he is regarded as one of the greatest. One of the clearest examples of blending Indian imagery and academic European art may be seen in his paintings. The goddess Lakshmi, one of Raja Ravi Varma's creations from 1896, is an example of how he brought religious and mythological figures to life. Varma merged European realism with Indian sensitivities, and it is estimated that he produced more than 7,000 paintings before passing away in 1906.
