Detailed Solution

Sarpanch is the head of the Gram panchayat.
A gram panchayat, which has a sarpanch as its elected head, is the foundation of a local self-government organisation of the Panchayati Raj system at the village or small town level in India. The president or sarpanch, along with a number of ward members known as panch, make up the Gram Panchayat. All of the adults residing in that ward or village cast direct ballots to choose them. The Sarpanch, or president of the village, chairs the panchayat. The elected representatives have a five-year tenure. A non-elected official chosen by the state government to monitor panchayat operations is known as the secretary of the panchayat.
